Women in the Revolution

Emily Geiger chose to be the messenger for General Sumter and General Greene. One of the things they said when they chose her was if you get caught burn the letter. One of the reasons that she did it is because the British would less likely to suspect a woman. Because she could just say that she was going to her grandfather’s house. The first letter that she delivered was about General Greene’s plan. One of the places she stopped to drink water from was clear springs. One of the other places she went through was Cool Woods. One night she stopped at a barn and tried to sleep and the couple that owned that barn said that she could come inside their house for the night. When she woke up she heard a man that heard rumors of a woman riding through the woods. So she left because she thought that they were tories. As she left the barn and the house she got caught and searched. But before she got caught she ate the letter and they never found it.
