Colonial Hatter

One day I wanted a job so I became a Hatter .When I went to for the first day I learned that the best hats were made from beaver skins.I also learned that to make a hat the hatter kneaded wool or the undercoat of an animal skin and they lasted the longest and looked the best. Then after about a year the English passed a law in 1731 to limit hat-making.But we continued to make and sell hats. The most hats that I made were made to order.I learned that the tri- cornered hat was a favorite style so I started to make more so I could make more money.I also learned that sometimes a hatter sold hats but I never really wanted to do that and other times,he sent them to the milliner to sell.I learned quickly that milliner made and sold women’s hats.I heard this saying mad as a hatter and a I thought to my self what does that mean.I also learned that we use liquid that we use for washing pelts was full of mercury the fumes are harmful they caused muscle problems and blurred sight. As I found that out I wanted to leave but I did not.
